A Freudian idyl or just a place to put your spades?

May 19, 2015

Theres a lot to be said for sheds, they are a sort of Freudian idyl, a place where work goes on, a rereat, a place to store and stash things  that can remain hidden for years, like the  Sydney Olympic Rings which sold recently on Ebay.

There are mini castles, hobbit houses and 50s Diners, gothic turretted sheds, and  of course  the wonderful  movement of The Mens Shed Association in Australia. However, when an Architect  needs a shed, inevitably the vision is far from a Victorian Folly, and will rise like a silver vision out of the bushland, strong, robust and reflective, speaking a traditional bush narrative of pioneering Australians, as well as engaging in a discourse with the buildings that surrond it.

Heres a sneak peek at the  latest Brenchley Project.
